About Julia Pelish
As a professional photographer, I thrive to provide art and joy to my customers and my community. I picked up a camera more than 15 years ago and enjoyed taking pictures so much I never stopped.
My passion for my art sparked me to learn as much as I could. I gained a Fine Arts degree in Photography from the State University of New York and also attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City to add digital design skills that allow me to enhance my photographs.
I have also had the benefit of working in one of the largest media markets in the world, helping a team of reporters, photographers and editors cover major news events. My work has been featured in the magazine "Long Island Weddings of Distinction" and "New York Newsday". I have exhibited in New York and Vancouver, and my affiliations include memberships with the Professional Photographers Association and the Vancouver Association of Photographic Arts.
To me, a photograph represents an emotional, visual snippet of our harried lives. When interwoven, color, subject matter, light, action and mood can create new realities and possibilities. This duality - both interpretive and honest - allows photographs to rise to art, to impact our lives and memories. For this reason, and many others, photographs fascinate me.
Since arriving in Vancouver in 2005, I have focused on delivering a superior photographic experience to my customers, including wedding, portrait and corporate clients throughout the Lower Mainland. As photography and technology evolves, I strive to evolve, too. With new imaging techniques and products, I feel every photograph now has the opportunity to truly be elevated to the quality of fine art.

About Julia's Photographic Equipment
My studio is located in my Yaletown townhome and I take pride in being able to operate a fully outfitted studio. My photography equipment includes:
- Full professional studio lighting, including White Lightning strobe and softbox
- Multiple Nikon camera bodies and lenses, including film and digital setups
- Vivitar flashes with remote settings and radio-control receivers
- Medium-format Hasselblad camera system with Zeiss lenses
- FujiPro digital portrait camera
- Latest editions of Adobe Light Room and Photoshop software
- Other paraphernalia, gadgets, gizmos and tools.
