Signature Portraits - Coming Soon!
February 11, 2008 |

Kitsilano-based artist Sally Gooding. (Signature Portrait by Julia Pelish)
Very soon - hopefully this week - I’ll be introducing my new product line called Julia Pelish Signature Portraits. I’ve been working on mastering this technique during the past several months. The technique incorporates studio photography in combination with a number of digital design tools, including several newly released plug-ins and updated versions of standard software. I wanted to focus on evolving portrait photography for my clients with the texture and beauty of collaging, an aspect of art I have worked on for years. I believe this technique marries classic portraiture with contemporary digital advancements. The aim was to combine as best I can my photography, digital design skills and creativity to take portrait photographs toward the fine-art sphere of things rather than the more journalistic end, which is generally a straight interpretation of a moment.
The above portrait took about 50 hours’ worth of work to complete following the photography session. I’d love to know what you think. You can leave a comment on this site or email me with your thoughts.
Thanks for visiting!
Julia
